The ballad call: poetry goes online too

On June 23, 2022, the students of grade 7 showed how creatively ballads can be presented. As part of their German lessons, they selected various lyrical texts, which unfortunately they were not able to perform in front of an audience at the Fine Arts Center this year. Nevertheless, they succeeded impressively in interpreting the texts in an online format.  Max (7a), Jonte (7a) and Kai (7a) and Henrik (7b), for example, performed the story of the mean King Belsatzar by Heinrich Heine - shown with self-designed pictures - with dramatic voices.
For the audience, the screen remained dark while Elaine (7b), Angela (7a) and Willem (7c) conjured up Goethe's Sorcerer's Apprentice in front of the participants' minds with their radio play. More interpretations of important poets followed in the one-hour ballad call, and all seventh graders were rewarded for their ingenuity and diligence with lots of virtual applause.
